Radiesse®
Radiesse® is a filler that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and skin folds around the nose and mouth. It is biocompatible, non-toxic, and non-allergenic. Radiesse® is known for its long lasting results. The benefits of Radiesse ® can be seen for two years or more.
Radiesse® is usually used on patients between the ages of 35 and 60. It provides up to 80 percent improvement immediately. Radiesse® is temporary and treatments should be repeated over time to maintain the benefit. Radiesse® is performed using a local anesthetic. The procedure can take anywhere from just a few minutes to fifteen minutes. The treatment involves injecting a compound of calcium hydroxyl apatite micro spheres (Calcium and Phosphate ions that are naturally produced in the body) that is in a carboxymethylcellulose gel (an organic compound of carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, glycerin, and sterile water). The connective tissue forms around the micro spheres and acts as a filler. There are three steps that take place when Radiesse® is injected
- Step one: The treatment area is chosen and antiseptic is applied.
- Step two: The correct amount of Radiesse® needed for treatment is chosen.
- Step three: Radiesse® is injected beneath the skin using a fine needle.
Results are noticed in as little as a week. It can last two years or more, but additionally touch-ups may be necessary. Swelling should go down within 24-36 hours. You may experience some bruising, and discomfort. Normal activities can be resumed immediately, but you should stay out of the sun as much as possible.
